Coconut is known as a versatile fruit that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. What is desiccated coconut? The term desiccated means drying out and removing the moisture. Desiccated coconut powder is made by grating the mature coconut flesh and drying it out to remove its natural moisture. It is called desiccated coconut powder. The nutty flavour of desiccated coconut adds taste and flavour to the dishes and adds an extra crunch if added after roasting. The coconuts are harvested, and these are stored for a month so the water inside the coconut gets absorbed.

Then the process of dehusking starts, where the outer husk of coconuts is removed, the foul-smelling coconuts are rejected, and other good quality coconuts go under further processing.

The next step is breaking the coconut shells without causing harm to the coconut kernel.

Once the coconut kernels are obtained, the outer skin is peeled, and they go on to the next stage of processing, which is washing.

The coconuts are washed properly and broken into halves to release the water inside.

Then the broken coconut is immersed in boiling water, which helps destroy the microorganism.

 The washed and clean coconut kernels are shredded mechanically, and these granules are then dried to remove the moisture content from nineteen percent to three percent, which helps to increase the shelf life.
